Ok, Jesus, it’s time that we talk,
I really don’t understand so much of the balking
That’s goin’ round sayin you’re this and you’re that . . .
You like this guy, not that one cuz he ain’t your cat.
They preach all these rules and say you’re the only One,
If I don’t accept you, then I ain’t “his” son.
You seem so rigid, divisive, I just gotta say,
The way you’re so choosy . . . I don’t wanna play.
What about the Buddhist, the rabbi, the pagan,
the homo, the hooker, the crack head, Kevin Bacon?
Everyone’s in, the way that I see it,
Everyone’s cool in their way, I believe it.
So put down your sword and quit causin’ the drama,
Chill with us all, have some fun, bring your mama,
Cuz she’s got some story that also seems crazy,
A virgin, an angel then out pops a baby?
Don’t get me started on that one, oh please,
I know how to do it, the birds and the bees are showin’ us how with no shame in their mix,
They just have fun, reproducin’s a kick.
“You’re right” Jesus said, interruptin’ and all,
“but give me a chance to explain, I recall,
way better than everyone just what I said,
They flipped it all over – turned it up on its head.”
“They couldn’t hear me, they needed their rules,
they needed duality, damn, they thought I was a fool.
2000 years later, they’re still using me, to keep hatred in place,
And talk about race, which is stupid and pointless, but they love to offend.
I’m not here to divide, to pick her but not him.
In God that’s not possible, trust me my friend,
there’s only ONE here,
it don’t matter if you’re queer,
or a muslim, a biker, a skin head, a brain,
an addict, an atheist or certifiably insane.
Everyone’s safe, everyone’s loved,
everyone’s God not their stories or thugs.
Forget about fear and what religions have said,
Dive into your heart, get out of your head.
There you will find me, IN ALL, I confess,
This crazy messed up thinking, it just ain’t my mess.”
